Venture Taranaki partner with enterprise and council to bring free business event to region

Ahead of the Curve, a webinar series created by Taranaki’s Regional Development Agency Venture Taranaki during lockdown, is set to take to the stage Wednesday 17 June, at TSB Showplace.

Hosted by NZTE General Manager Projects, Venture Taranaki Trustee, entrepreneur and regular funny guy David Downs, the event will see six local Taranaki business leaders come together, to form a post-COVID lockdown panel, with the aim of sharing learnings, insights, and opportunities for the road ahead.

Having hosted 10 webinars during the various alert levels, this live event is seen as the crescendo of the series, providing an opportunity to physically bring those who have followed the series, as well as new attendees together, now that restrictions allow for larger events.

“We’ve had a lot of feedback from our webinar attendees over the past few months, with many commenting how valuable they have found the various topics and speakers”, says Venture Taranaki Enterprise GM, Michelle Jordan.

“We’ve worked with partners and guest speakers, to ensure we have been crafting highly-relevant and useful topics, giving enterprises the information they need to navigate the ever-evolving landscape, and helping people to be as prepared as they could be.”

Venture Taranaki are excited to partner with Strategy Collective, and the New Plymouth District Council to deliver this live event.

“Having partnered with so many enterprises to deliver our digital webinars, it made sense to pair up again, and use our collective strength to benefit our region,” explains Michelle.

Strategy Collective has encouraged this additional event support for businesses, which will enable them to seek assurances and attain a definitive sense for their own decision making based on our panelist’s insights.

“It’s about bringing the community together and removing that feeling of isolation, truly appreciating that we are all in this together, and that we have the ability to re-negotiate or navigate a new way forward without feeling constrained by our previous actions or decisions” says Managing Director of Strategy Collective, Annalese Sharrock.

The panel includes our locally-owned national bank, TSB’s, CEO Donna Cooper, Taranakipine and Woodspan CEO Tom Boon, Venture Taranaki CE Justine Gilliland, NPDC Chief Operating Officer Kelvin Wright, GQ Partner Paul Franklin, and Ozone Coffee Roasters International Managing Director Craig Macfarlane.

Collectively, the group cover a wide range of entities, and enterprises, and with backgrounds spanning industry and technical expertise, are set to spark some interesting commentary and insights.

“It’s great to have so many local leaders together in one room, and we’re looking forward to the discussion that flows, and ultimately the value this provides for our local enterprises,” explains Michelle.

Venture Taranaki are hopeful that this event is as valuable as the Ahead of the Curve initiative successfully built during lockdown.

“We’re excited to bring this event to life, on a stage, and offer further interaction and opportunity to ask questions and gain valuable insights,” says Michelle.
