Natalie Avery and the team at Top Print moved their business to Waitara, and haven't looked back.

Now the business is going from strength to strength, with support from Raj Kahdilkar from Business Success Partners, part funded by the Capability Development Voucher programme through Venture Taranaki.

Natalie first contacted Venture Taranaki in 2014, when she was matched a Business Mentor, as part of the Business Mentors New Zealand national programme. Natalie was matched to local mentor Julie Beck, who encouraged her to join a BNI (business networking) group, which helped her to build confidence as well as networks.
“Being introduced to other business owners you could 'reach out' and discuss ideas and problems that others may also have faced.”
The move to Waitara started with a front office in 2016, and within six months the Waitara office was going so well the decision was made to move the entire workshop to the Queen Street premises, and they haven’t looked back.
“We had noticed an empty shop on the main street of Waitara and decided to 'give it a go' and opened a shop.  We gave ourselves six months to see how it went.  After only a few months we changed our Waitara location to where we are now.  It didn't take long to decide to move the entire New Plymouth base to Waitara as well.”
This year, Top Print embarked on a 12-month coaching programme with Raj Kahdilkar from Business Success Partners, part funded by the Capability Development Voucher programme through Venture Taranaki.  “Raj is great” says Natalie.  “He has helped us to start analysing our business and look at different procedures to help streamline the running of it.  He's also had me look at our sales and clients, and given different ideas on sales and marketing techniques that I would have never thought of.  He's also great at bouncing ideas off of and puts a different perspective on these ideas to help come up with a 'plan of attack'.
“We were sick of driving two vehicles to town six days a week for work. This is our home town, we've lived here for close to 20 years.  We love the people, the vibe and the community spirit of the town.  Why not help build our town by bringing our business here?  People of New Plymouth don't know what they're missing out on!”
Top Print continues to go from strength to strength, and Venture Taranaki business advisors continue to visit Waitara whenever they get the chance.
